03 Dec Dynamo Delights Families
The basic premise behind playgrounds is children having fun, and nothing else brings together fun and children more than the Christmas season. This year, Dynamo decided to help usher in the Christmas season and partner with our local community by participating in the annual Santa’s Parade of Lights. This is the 12th year that the Parade has been put on in the community of Orléans, a suburb of Ottawa. It is hosted by the local Firefighter’s Association, who collect money and toys from parade watchers to help the less fortunate in our community.
The Parade is always an excellent opportunity for groups and businesses to put together some fantastic floats covered in lights and show off their Christmas creativity to the community, and this year was no exception. This year, an estimated 130,000 people watched 80 entries along the 4 km (2.5 mi) route. Dynamo’s float consisted of a walking bridge lined with lighting covered with many smiling, waving kids along with park benches, Christmas trees and Dynamo’s signature Biggo Flyer covered in lighting with a snowman for a rider. Along the parade route, the Dynamo float was greeted with many happy, wondrous stares from children and adults alike and more than a few comments of “I wish I had one of those!” Rumours from the North Pole are that many kids’ Christmas lists now include a Biggo Flyer.
All in all, Dynamo was glad to be able to take the time to join with the people of our region in welcoming the Christmas season, as well as helping those less fortunate in our community. In keeping with this tone of community involvement, Dynamo will also be providing logistics and support for the Rockland Food Drive on Sunday, December 6th. “Tis the season to delight – and to make a difference!”
